Coach Rick Hackler and Assistant Scott Hackler are ASEP certified at the Leader Level through programs developed by the National Federation of State High School Association. For several years the coaches have volunteered their teaching skills in sports and activities at various levels. In 1997 they founded the Green Wave Basketball Academy committing them to develop each player's basketball skills, physical capabilities, and the mental approach necessary to excel. In 1999 the Green Wave Basketball program began recruiting the talented CYO South Deanery athletes which shaped the foundation of this enduring relationship.

In addition to the Green Wave program, both Rick and Scott coached the Our Lady of the Greenwood "Cadet A" boys basketball team during the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 seasons. The 2000-2001 OLG team placed Runner-up in the South Deanery Tournament, Final Four in the Holiday Tournament, and Runner-up in the CYO American Division Archdiocese Tournament. Both coaches served on the Roncalli High School Boys Basketball staff. Their Roncalli High School coaching career began during the 2000-2001 season. Rick is served as a Varsity Assistant and Scott as the Freshman Assistant.

The Coaches subscribe to the philosophy that the game of basketball imitates life. They believe the disciplines, commitment, and teamwork required to succeed in basketball are the same direct qualities necessary to succeed in life. They believe that all success achieved or desired, is attained through GOD's grace. These are the precise qualities they strive to instill in their team.
